Giving Projects onto others

Yes, Giving Projects. Noun or Verb. Imagine what your giving could project if you had others helping you.

This is where we highlight special charities, projects and opportunities within our community. Come see some of the extraordinary things being done today.

Christine Zacharko - Glasses to Go

By day, Christine runs her own mobile optometry clinic serving clients across Alberta.

Once each year Christine and her volunteer team participate in a medical/eye sight clinical mission to Haiti. They take suitcases containing prescription eyeglasses, safety frames, reading glasses and medical supplies (to help with common problems such as pink eye and other infections).  When the team returns, they do so with only the “shirts on their backs”  as everything else is left for Haitian aid.

Want to make a difference by supporting Christine’s efforts?   Please donate your gently used frames and lenses. Glasses to Go also carries a number of $20-$40 frames that you can purchase (they insert lens and donate a complete set of eyewear on your behalf to someone in need of vision correction). Charitable receipts are available for these donations through the Jeff Cherubin Domond Foundation.

We take our sight and healthcare for granted at times so it is wonderful to feel appreciation for this blessing by “paying it forward”.   With your donation we can  literally bestow the “gift of sight” to the less fortunate who are impoverished and live in disaster stricken areas without the resources to improve eye health and eyesight.
